I felt that this was such a relevant video, relevant to the things I have experienced and my life, that I posted this on both my blogs.

Carl Sagan Explaining Encounters with a Multi-dimensional God?
Scientist and astronomer Carl Sagan explains in this video how a 2 dimensional being would perceive a 3 dimensional being. I am aware that there has been some speculation by scientists as to whether the transcendent experience I had, or come to that other experiences of a mystical nature, where in fact encounters with another dimension. I am not opposed to this idea, never the less I would say that I encountered God. I suppose this would not make sense to most people. Let me explain. I don’t have a definition for God except by what it can do~it’s all powerful, all-knowing and ever-present. I’m not aware that any religion has any description of God more that what it can do or has done in the presence of human beings, with the exception that most of the major faiths assert that it is neither a male nor a female, Christianity being the exception.
What I do know of the transcendent experience is that it was beyond description. It was an experience that was unrelated to anything I had ever experienced before, for the most part. What small fragment of memory I was left with afterwards were the parts that had some relationship to everyday experience, such as the knowledge that I saw the room as I normally would, except everything was in exquisite detail and seen panoramically, that is to say all at the same time; that the room appeared lighter as if the sun had come out, except that even the dark corners were as bright as the rest of the room; or that I experienced a sense just like my other senses except this wasn’t one of them but something of an unknown sense.
At the time and for some years afterwards I had no name for this experience and kept silent about it, telling no one. I didn’t want to be the victim of unnecessary ridicule over an experience I couldn’t even explain. I did however look around for answers. Science had and still has no adequate explanation for such experiences. However, the experience of love permeating the room and me was somewhat of a give away. Where as science doesn’t talk of a presence of love suddenly permeating you and your surroundings, I knew religion certainly did. In truth, at the very time of the experience I recognized the presence of God, a being that is part of me and yet not. As years passed and I had many more different experiences I came to realize there were many different kinds of manifestations of God and these are reflected in the different religions. In fact, I learned that many, many other people had had transcendent experiences and many other sorts of experiences and they weren’t all mentioned in the Bible, Tora or the Koran. I was not alone in having such experiences. As time past and things about my life were revealed, impossible but true, it became very obvious that something beyond human had interceded in my life and possibly stopped me from dying on more than one occasion.
I think it is possible that God is a multi-dimensional being and that, as Carl Sagan suggests, we only experience part of it when it pushes in to our 4 dimensional Universe. The experience of divine love could be simply the way we experience certain multi-dimensional forces. Could this be the being mentioned in the holy books? possibly. Could it have created the universe or the spark of life? I don’t see why not. As one that has encountered God I can say with certainty, in my case it didn’t seem at all interested in religion or being worshipped.
I think Carl Sagan is on to something. But then I suppose by now he already knowns the truth of the matter, may he RIP.
